A few months ago, I had a dream that I was a child and I was with other children who were laughing and playing freely in a forest. The unusual part was that we were in North Korea. After a while, we saw military soldiers coming toward us. The other children were still giggling and I remember thinking that they needed to be quiet or we would be caught. We had a blanket and made a tent to hide under. As the soldiers came closer to us, we were laying flat on the ground under our tent, being as still and quiet as we possibly could. I saw a hand moving through the blanket like it was trying to feel if someone was under it. However, the hand never touched any of us and the blanket was never lifted up.
I woke up a little unsettled since I had just come so close to being captured by a dangerous military. However, I also felt encouraged. I feel like the dream was a reminder that God protects His children and puts blinders on our enemies, even in places like North Korea.
In light of the recent announcement that the Korean War will officially end, I hope that vision of children playing and laughing will soon be a reality for the people of North Korea–that they will will be able to freely, openly, loudly, and joyfully worship God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ without fear of being thrown into jail or forced labor camps or being tortured. They will no longer have to hide “under a tent.”
